The Stanford Geothermal Program hosted the 49th Geothermal Workshop on February 12-14, 2024. This year’s workshop hosted 350 participants (the most ever) from 26 countries, and 221 written papers were submitted with 165 presentations. The Geothermal industry is thriving, and the Stanford Geothermal Program continues to bring together key players in the development of new technologies and techniques.

The Workshop is in its 49th year, having first run in 1975. The Workshop is one of the World's primary technical and scientific meetings in the field of geothermal energy, and has been the template of many similar geothermal workshops organized around the globe. The goals of the conference were to bring together engineers, scientists and managers involved in geothermal reservoir studies and developments; provide a forum for the exchange of ideas on the exploration, development and use of geothermal resources; and to enable prompt and open reporting of progress.

Keynote speakers were:
Lauren Boyd, Director, Geothermal Technology Office, US Department of Energy
Joe Moore, Director, UtahFORGE project
Jack Norbeck, Chief Technology Officer, Fervo Energy

Congratulations to all the participants and to the Stanford Geothermal Team for another successful event! A special thank you to Ormat Technologies, Inc. for their sponsorship of the Banquet.
