Rebecca Grekin Received a Schneider Fellowship
Rebecca Grekin has been awarded a Schneider Sustainable Energy Fellowship. We are proud of Rebecca's achievement and excited to see the continued impact of her research!
The 2026 Year-long Schneider Fellows are:
- Edward Apraku, PhD ’26 (Environmental Engineering)
- Rebecca Grekin, PhD ’26 (Energy Science and Engineering)
- Lily Joy Winder, MA ’26 (Earth Systems)
As Schneider Fellowship recipients, fellows will hold full-time positions for 12 months at the Natural Resources Defense Council. They will tackle the world’s economic, environmental, social, and technical challenges associated with harnessing energy resources to deliver energy services.
The Schneider Fellowship program is named in honor of Stephen H. Schneider (1945-2010), an internationally renowned expert on climate science and a leader in promoting solutions to address climate change. Stephen Schneider pioneered interdisciplinary research and policy analysis that underpinned many influential climate science publications, including the first four annual reports of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. For 18 years he served as a professor at Stanford University, where he had a lasting impact on countless students and alumni.

Tapas Peshin (PhD Student in Energy Resources Engineering) will be working with California Air Resources Board (CARB) this summer as part of the Shultz Energy Fellowship. He will be working on Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) refueling including hydrogen and electric vehicle fueling station utilization for priority populations, such as disadvantaged and low-income communities that are especially vulnerable to the impacts of climate change and air pollution.
