Celebrating Excellence: Ilenia Battiato and Catherine Spurin Recognized at InterPore Award Ceremony

We are thrilled to announce that Ilenia Battiato has been honored with the prestigious InterPore Award for Porous Media Research, recognizing her as one of the leading scholars of her generation in theoretical and computational multiscale modeling and upscaling of reactive flows in porous media. Her pioneering contributions have significantly advanced our understanding of multiscale reactive transport processes, impacting a wide array of applications including geomaterials, membranes, and battery systems.
At the same award ceremony, Catherine Spurin, a postdoctoral scholar, was recognized as the Rien van Genuchten Early Career Awardee, celebrating her outstanding achievements and potential in the field. Additionally, Kate Maher, a faculty member from Earth System Science, delivered a keynote titled "Reactive transport modeling of soil-based carbon removal: from reactive interfaces to objective limits."
The International Society for Porous Media (InterPore), a non-profit scientific organization established in 2008, aims to advance knowledge in the understanding, description, and modeling of natural and industrial porous media systems. Porous media are vital to many systems, including soils, aquifers, oil and gas reservoirs, biological tissues, and numerous industrial applications such as fuel cells and drug delivery.
